Heralds' (a religious reference to Jesus Christ) wearing crowns & carrying a
publicity banner in their Corn Festival parade; sepia-tone postcard with
writing on back dating to 1909. This group was organized by Mrs. Delilah
Smith, a Woman's Christian Temperance Union member, who saw a need for
wholesome recreation for young people -- such as hay rides at her farm one

upper corner crease, 4 small holes neatly punched (to make part of a
postcard pillow), uneven toning on back spares the front. Vynita was a
teacher & long-time member of the Ohio State Teachers Association, which
helps to explain the unusual subject matter. Holmesville is a small village
(about 300 people now, probably less in 1906) in the Prairie Township of
Holmes County Ohio. Sold but front
side still available for scholarly study & research as an enlarged 300-dpi scan
